Digital Membership

A Digital Only Membership is available to children and adults.

It will allow you to borrow our e-books and digital audiobooks, and to access our online databases.

Digital membership can also be used to access the public use computers in our branches.

Fill in our online registration form, selecting the Digital Only Membership option. Choose either Ngatea, Paeroa or Waihi as the library you would like to join.

If you want to borrow items from our library branches, you are welcome to change from a Digital Only Membership to an Adult Membership or a Junior Membership.

Visit any of our branches, bringing photo ID and proof of address as stated below, and we can change your membership.

Adult and Junior Memberships

Fill in our online registration form to get your temporary library membership number. Choose either Ngatea, Paeroa or Waihi as the library you would like to join.

You will be given a temporary library membership number. This will allow you to borrow our e-books and online resources as much as you like for two weeks.

Before your temporary membership expires, you’ll need to visit your nearest library branch to pick up your new library card and check your details are correct.

You only need to bring two things:

  1. Photo ID (eg. passport, driver’s licence, ID card)
  2. A document confirming your home address (eg. power bill or bank statement)

A junior membership can be registered online but children and teens will need to have an adult with them to show photo ID when they come to the library to collect their card.

In-library Membership Registration

If you are unable to fill in an online membership form, you can call into your local library and fill out a membership form there.

Who can join the library?

Adults, children, even babies can join the library.

Accounts for members under 18 need to be linked to a responsible adult such as a parent or guardian. The parent/guardian doesn’t have to be a member themselves. They simply need to agree to be responsible for the under 18’s account and the items borrowed.

Don’t live in Hauraki? Don’t worry.

If you reside in any of our neighbouring districts – Waikato, Matamata-Piako, Western BOP or Thames-Coromandel, you can also become a member of the Hauraki District Libraries for free.

We also offer special memberships for Schools, Businesses and other Organisations. Please enquire at the library.

Online Access

You can access your library account online via either the computers in the library, on your own computer at home or on your mobile phone*. When logging on use your library card barcode in full if it starts with MHB, if it does not start with MHB please leave off the 10th digit. Now, all you need is a password!
