As we move to level 2 we are happy to be able to offer more library services.

Customers are welcome to return items to our afterhours bins from Thursday 14 May.

From Monday 18 May we will be open to the public. To ensure everyone in our library community is kept safe, we will be opening at reduced hours. This is due to the extra time needed to process our returns, and to carry out the additional cleaning required at level 2 to keep everyone safe.

Our libraries will be open Monday to Friday 10am -1pm (Ngatea, Paeroa and Waihi) and Saturday 10am -12pm (Paeroa and Waihi) until further notice.

We are excited to be able to open our doors, and welcome you again, however we will need to manage physical distancing requirements. There will be a limit on how many people may be in the library at one time, and how long you can stay in the library.  All visitors to our buildings will be required to supply contact information upon entry.

All returned items will be stored in quarantine for three days before being made available to borrow again. If you are waiting for an item that was placed on hold we will let you know when it is available to collect.

Newspapers will not be available in our branches at level 2.  We invite you instead to use our new online PressReader resource, which gives you free access to lots of magazine and newspaper titles, including the New Zealand Herald, The Bay of Plenty Times, and the Waihi Leader incorporating Coastal News.

If you or anyone in your house are feeling unwell please refrain from returning items or visiting our libraries. All items issued prior to lockdown had loan periods extended and are not due until 30 June. Please contact us if you are concerned about items becoming overdue.

Free wifi is available from our libraries now. Please maintain physical distancing while outside our buildings.

Computers, printers and scanners will be available from Monday 18 May.  A 30 minute time limit will be in place due to our reduced opening hours, and to assist with managing physical distancing.

We expect to be busy when we reopen, and we appreciate your patience. If you want to avoid having to queue please continue to use our online resources. These include our ebooks and e-audios, PressReader (free access to newspapers and magazines), and Story Box Library (picture books read aloud, for children to watch).

We will not be offering in person programming at level two. We will continue to offer our online book chat group and to share stories for children via our facebook page.

Please continue to visit our website and facebook page for more information. Alternatively you may email us hdc-library@hauraki-dc.govt.nz or phone 07 862 8609 or 0800 734 834 (from within the district).
